Separate materials early so the estimate and handling plan match the actual load. Start with the route, separate anything that needs special handling, and use photos to replace guesswork.
Sort by material and density
Keep clean lumber, drywall, tile, cardboard, metal, and fixtures apart. Dense material can change a load quickly, even when the pile looks small.
Contain sharp and dusty pieces
Use sturdy bins for small tile fragments and keep protruding fasteners out of walking paths. Do not overload containers beyond what can be moved safely.
Stop when the material is uncertain
Suspected asbestos, lead-contaminated dust, chemicals, solvents, pressurized containers, and unknown liquids need specialist advice. Do not mix them into an ordinary debris pile.

- Material types and approximate pile dimensions.
- Photos from more than one angle.
- Floor level and carry distance.
- Parking and loading access.
- Whether demolition is still underway.
